How is a shadow made when light shines on us?
আলো পড়লে আমাদের ছায়া কীভাবে তৈরি হয়?
Light from the Sun, a lamp, or a flashlight travels in straight lines. It keeps moving until something gets in its way.
সূর্য, বাতি বা টর্চ থেকে আসা আলো সোজা পথে চলতে থাকে। কোনো বস্তু সামনে এসে বাধা না দেওয়া পর্যন্ত আলো এগিয়ে যায়।
When your body or another solid object stands in the path of light, some of the light cannot pass through it. The object blocks the light.
তোমার শরীর বা অন্য কোনো অস্বচ্ছ বস্তু আলোর সামনে এলে আলো সেই বস্তুর মধ্য দিয়ে যেতে পারে না। বস্তুটি আলোর পথ আটকে দেয়।
Behind the object, there is an area where less light can reach. This darker area is called a shadow. That is why you can see your shadow on the ground on a sunny day.
বস্তুর পেছনের কিছু জায়গায় আলো কম পৌঁছায়। এই অন্ধকার অংশটিকেই ছায়া বলা হয়। তাই রোদেলা দিনে তুমি মাটিতে নিজের ছায়া দেখতে পাও।
A shadow can become bigger or smaller depending on the positions of the light and the object. Move an object closer to or farther from a flashlight and watch how its shadow changes.
আলো ও বস্তুর অবস্থান পরিবর্তন হলে ছায়া বড় বা ছোট হতে পারে। কোনো বস্তুকে টর্চের কাছে বা দূরে সরিয়ে দেখো, তার ছায়ার আকারও বদলে যাবে।
