How do our eyes help us see colours?

We need light to see. Light bounces off a red apple and into your eye. Without light, colours look dark or disappear.
দেখতে আলোর দরকার। আলো লাল আপেলের উপর থেকে ফিরে এসে তোমার চোখে আসে। আলো না থাকলে রং পরিষ্কার দেখা যায় না।
Inside the eye a clear lens bends the light so the inside back of the eye gets a small picture of the thing you look at.
চোখের ভিতরে একটি স্বচ্ছ লেন্স আলোকে বাঁকিয়ে দেয় যাতে চোখের পেছনে ছোট একটি ছবি তৈরি হয়।
The back of the eye (the retina) has tiny cells for colour. These cells turn the light into signals. The brain reads the signals and says “red” or “green.”

Some animals, like dogs, see fewer colours than people. People usually see many colours.
