Rafi and Laila liked to play near the old banyan tree in their lane. One afternoon, Rafi saw something sticking from the roots. He pulled it out and found a small, folded map. Laila smiled and said, "Let us see where it leads." They decided to follow the map together.

The map had a drawing of their lane and the banyan tree with an X under the roots. The paper also had a note: 'Protect what keeps us cool.' Rafi wondered if the map showed a treasure chest. Laila read the note again and looked serious.

They followed the drawings to the lane corner where the shop is. The map showed a small path behind the shop to the backyard. In the backyard, a patch of soil looked dry and sad near the tree roots. Laila touched the soil and felt it was dusty.

Rafi wanted to dig and find a chest. Laila looked up at the banyan leaves and said, "We should water the roots first." They asked the shopkeeper if they could borrow a small spade and some water. The shopkeeper smiled and gave them a spade and a big water bucket.

They dug gently near the X and gave the roots water bit by bit. Other children came to watch and some helped with buckets. Rafi felt proud to lead and Laila taught them how to pour water slowly. The soil began to look darker and fresher.

An older neighbour, Dadu Karim, came out and thanked them. He said the banyan used to give cool shade to many families. He looked worried about a broken drain nearby that made the soil dry. Laila suggested they fix the drain together.

একজন বৃদ্ধ প্রতিবেশী, দাদু করিম, বেরিয়ে এসে তাদের ধন্যবাদ দিলেন। তিনি বললেন বটগাছ বহু পরিবারের জন্য ছায়া দিত। তিনি পাশের ভাঙা নর্দমা দেখে চিন্তিত হলেন; তাই মাটি শুষ্ক হয়ে গিয়েছিল। লায়লা বলল তারা মিলে নর্দমা ঠিক করে দেবে।

They cleaned the drain with help from neighbours. Some people brought small tools and old bricks. Rafi and Laila put the last brick in and the water began to flow to the roots again. Everyone clapped and felt warm inside.

That night Rafi and Laila put the map back under the roots. They wrote a new note: 'This tree is our treasure.' Rafi whispered, "We found the real treasure today." Laila smiled and said, "Now we must protect it every day."
