Rafi and Lina planned a picnic by the river. They wanted to meet at the mango tree after school.

On the way, Lina found a small piece of paper under a stone. It was folded and had a drawing of a star and an arrow. Rafi said, “Maybe it is a clue.” Lina's eyes were bright and curious.
পথে লিনা পাথরের নিচে একটা ছোট কাগজ পেল। সেটি ভাঁজ করা ছিল, আর তাতে একটা তারা আর তীর আঁকা ছিল। রাফি বলল, “হয়তো এটা কোনো সূত্র।” লিনার চোখে কৌতূহল ঝিলমিল করল।
They opened the paper and saw a short note: “Look where water sings.” Rafi rubbed his chin. Lina whispered, “Water sings at the weir!” They decided to follow the clue together.
তারা কাগজটা খুলে একটি ছোট নোট দেখল: “যেখানে পানি গান করে, সেখানে দেখো।” রাফি থুতনি ঘষল। লিনা ফিসফিস করে বলল, “পানির গান তো বাঁধের কাছে শোনা যায়!” তারা একসাথে সূত্রটি অনুসরণ করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল।
At the weir, they found another paper stuck to a rock. This one had a drawing of a small boat and a smile. Rafi laughed and said, “This is getting fun!” Lina looked at the boat and thought about Babu.
বাঁধে গিয়ে তারা পাথরের সঙ্গে আটকে থাকা আরেকটা কাগজ দেখতে পেল। তাতে একটি ছোট নৌকা আর একটি হাসিমুখ আঁকা ছিল। রাফি হেসে বলল, “এটা তো আরও মজার হয়ে উঠছে!” লিনা নৌকাটা দেখে বাবুর কথা ভাবল।
Babu arrived with his wooden boat and asked what they were doing. Lina showed him the papers. Babu smiled and said, “Follow the river, it will lead you.” He pointed upriver with his hand.
বাবু তার কাঠের নৌকা নিয়ে এলো এবং জিজ্ঞেস করল, তারা কী করছে। লিনা কাগজগুলো তাকে দেখাল। বাবু হেসে বলল, “নদীকে অনুসরণ করো, নদী তোমাদের পথ দেখাবে।” সে উজানের দিকে হাত দিয়ে ইশারা করল।
They crossed the river with Babu and walked upriver. Near a banyan tree they found a small box under the roots. Inside was a toy star and a note: “For the child who finds joy.” Lina clapped and Rafi gave a small smile.
তারা বাবুর সঙ্গে নদী পার হয়ে উজানের দিকে হাঁটা শুরু করল। বটগাছের কাছে শিকড়ের নিচে একটা ছোট বাক্স পেল। ভেতরে একটা খেলনা তারা আর একটি নোট ছিল: “যে শিশু আনন্দ খুঁজে পায় তার জন্য।” লিনা তালি দিল আর রাফি মুচকি হাসল।
They met the village teacher, who had left the notes. She smiled and said she hid the surprise to make children walk and think. Everyone felt warm and proud. They shared the toy and their picnic under the tree.
